Looking For a Spring Refresh? Try These Editor’s Picks

After months of covering up outfits with a puffer, the feeling “over ” hits strong and can only be cured by that first 15-degree day. While fall gets all the credit for being the best sartorial season, I’m believe that spring brings on a fresh start. Swapping sweaters for tees and boots for sandals serves as a reminder that the best months of the year are upon us in April, May and June. This is when we change channels for new routines and new rejuvinating prods for the taking.

I’ve rounded up some of my favourite items to freshen things up for sring.

Spring refresh for your closet

Scoop V-Neck Tee for Tall Women, $26, at americantall.com.

A crisp white tee

Fresh and clean like a new white tee. If your T-shirt fell victim to pasta stains or simply lost its brightness, replacing it is a must. This staple is an easy way to reset your wardrobe for spring. This scoop-neck style offers the right length, and it layers effortlessly under jackets and sweaters on those in-between-temperature days, even fitting for those with taller frames.

Women’s Modern Rib Rodeo Half Calf Sock 4-Pack, $110, at bombas.com.

Comfy new socks

A fresh pair is a subtle wardrobe upgrade that makes a big difference in how you feel. These lightweight, embroidered socks are soft, breathable, and add a subtle touch of personality with a bit of embroidery. My fave part is the brand’s “buy one, donate one“ mission to charity partners, including Covenant House Toronto and Vancouver, and Old Brewery Mission in Montreal.

Polka Dot Mesh Jacket, $36, at shein.com.

A light and fun spring jacket

Spring is the perfect excuse to add something a bit more playful to your wardrobe. This lightweight jacket adds texture and personality without feeling too heavy—ideal for those days when you want to look like you’re trying, but you actually just tossed on this little ol’ jacket. Plus, polka dots are v in right now, just saying.

Ultra Lo Shoes, $110, at reebok.ca.

A fresh pair of sneakers

After a full year or so in the same sneakers, you’re bound to see the wear on your feet. Plus, A fresh pair just hits different.

These sneakers are super lightweight with a low-profile shape that aren’t bulky at all. They’ve got that clean, minimal look that goes with everything, but still feel a bit elevated thanks to the mix of materials and the option to switch up the laces (they come with a satin and cotto pair) depending on your style.

One small step for anxiety: Living proof walking can impact your mental health.

Oversized Faux Leather Bomber Jacket, $130, at dynamiteclothing.com.

A throw-on-and-go jacket

If there’s one silhouette taking over spring trends right now, it’s the funnel neck on jackets. The exaggerated collar makes a simple style more modern, elevated, with just the right amount of structure around the neckline. This oversized, faux-leather bomber is one piece you can throw on without overthinking your look. Wear it zipped up or open showing that white tee you just bought. It instantly pulls everything together while still looking easy.

The Everyday Sweatshirt, $65, at mandys.ca.

A Saturday morning crewneck

Picture this: a cool-but-warm Saturday morning, sunnies on, a cute butter yellow crewneck styled with your go-to off-duty outfit, while running errands, like heading to the market. This is that soft, relaxed piece. Plus it works for those days when it seems winter just might come back!

Elody Crochet Sweater, $98, at shophoney.com

A light-weight cardigan

Spring is all about those in-between weather pieces, and a crochet sweater is perfect for those days when you don’t know what’s what. It gives just enough warmth without being heavy, and adds a bit of texture to your look to make it more styled. This airy knit comes slightly cropped, so it pairs easily with jeans and skirts, or can be thrown over a dress. You’ll reach for it on cooler mornings and late evenings.

Comfort+ Underwire T-Shirt Bra, $67, at wonderbra.ca.

A bra that actually fits

As much as I’m talking about spring outfits, I know that what’s underneath matters too. A good T-shirt bra gives you that smooth, no-lines look, so you’re comfortable enough to wear all day. (No urge to rush home to just take your bra off!) It’s supportive without feeling restrictive, which is exactly what you want heading into those lighter, easier spring outfits.

L’Oreal Lumi Glotion Jumbo, $42, at shoppersdrugmart.ca.

Spring refresh for your makeup bag

This glowy lotion (hence its name) has been all over TikTok for a reason, and Bethenny Frankel is right. Now available in jumbo size, this lotion leaves a lit-from-within look without feeling makeup-y. It’s the kind of makeup you throw on when your skin’s still recovering from winter, and you just want to look a bit more alive. Wear it under foundation for a dewy finish, or on its own on your arms, décolletage and legs.

Ultra Express Self Tanning Foam, $35, at shoppersdrugmart.ca.

That first hint of a tan

Put a finger down if you’ve ever gotten a little too excited on the first hot day of spring, ended up sunburned. While the beauty editor in me wants to wag a finger, I can relate. The sun’s always stronger than you think, especially after being cocooned all winter. Save yourself the regret; go the faux route with a self-tanner. It gives you that sun-kissed glow without the skin damage. And for all that is spring, wear an SPF.

Balayage Exceptionnel Duo, $75, at melaandkera.com.

A haircare upgrade that smells frsh

Switching up your hair routine for spring makes you feel fresher. This shampoo-conditioner duo leaves your hair feeling soft and hydrated, and leaves it a lot healthier-looking after a winter from being under a parka hood. But honestly, the standout is the scent. It’s fruity, floral and smells expensive in the best way. You’ll catch it throughout the day and think: ”Wait, is that me?!”

The Barrier Bioactive Mist, $104, at ubeauty.com.

When the seasons change, my skin always feels it. This mist is a beauty regimen add-on that keeps me feeling fresh throughout the day. Lightweight, hydrating, and perfect to keep on your desk (it comes in mini versions that are purse size), so it’s perfect for travel or everyday use.

The travel essentials our editors swear by.

Peptide Lip Boost, $23, at rhodeskin.com.

A new lippy routine

It kind of feels like we’re all slowly thawing out after winter, and if your lips are still dry, cracked, or just not their best, you’re not alone. This is one of those products that makes them look instantly better without really trying. It’s a thick, balmy treatment that gives you that glossy, hydrated look while actually working to smooth and plump over time. The unscented version keeps it simple, just clean, healthy-looking lips that go with everything.

Lumiwise Brightening Ampoule Serum, $176, at holtrenfrew.com.

An at-home glass facial

Heading into spring, this is the kind of serum that brings your skin back to life after looking dull all winter. It’s brightening and targets dark spots while giving you that fresh, almost glassy glow. Easy to layer with makeup, it’s a splurge that actually makes your skin look radiant.

Getting acne in your 30s and 40s? You’re not alone.

Lip Lingerie Lip Liner Stain, $19, at shoppersdrugmart.ca

An easy, everyday lip

Spring makeup is all about keeping things simple. It’s a soft rose-toned stain that gives just enough colour to brighten your face without feeling too done. It goes on wet, so you have a bit of time to blend and soften it out before it sets, then it dries down and stays put. No smudging, no constant touch-ups, just an easy, long-lasting lip you can throw on and go.

Lavender Laundry Concentrate, $12, at walmart.ca

Spring refresh for your home

When I think of spring, I think of warm air, birds chirping, fresh linens, and finally doing a proper deep clean of my home. This Canadian-made detergent is ultra-concentrated (which means a little goes a long way) and lightly scented with essential oils, giving your clothes that clean, lavender-fresh feel. And if your white tees have fallen victim to a pasta stain or two, this is where this comes in. It’s effective but gentle on fabrics, and a little goes a long way, making it a win for both your routine and the environment.

Walnut Large Cutting Board, $140, at hexclad.ca.

A hosting upgrade

Spring always puts me in the mood to host. For a casual girls’ night-in with wine and snacks, it’s nice to have pieces that make the evening feel put together. A good cutting board is one of those things you end up using constantly. And this one is sturdy, functional and nice enough to leave out for serving, too.

Spot Scrub AI, $1,600, at dysoncanada.ca.

A smarter spring clean

Would it really be spring without a spring cleaning? It’s the season to finally tackle all that built-up winter dirt and dust and reset your space. This smart cleaner is designed to do the heavy lifting for you, targeting tough spots and stains with precision. So you don’t spend hours scrubbing.

Energizing Eucalyptus Candle, $32, at shopplanted.com.

A post-cleaning candle

There’s nothing more satisfying after a spring cleaning session than lighting a candle to chill and enjoy your space. It completes the home reset. This eucalyptus flick is all natural, fresh and calming. How rejuvenating is that?

Spearmint Stand Mixer, $550, at kitchenaid.ca.

New season, new baking recipes

Something about spring always makes me want to bake again. Maybe it’s the longer days or just being out of winter hibernation. Either way, if you’re getting back into it, you might as well do it with a cute stand mixer. This spearmint shade is KitchenAid’s colour of the year and honestly just looks so good sitting on your counter.

Soft Absorbent Bathroom Mat, $6, at shein.com

A bathroom refresh moment

A bath mat that says “get naked”? Say less.

Swapping out your bath mat instantly makes your washroom feel fresh. Let’s be honest, mats can get kind of gross over time. Between water, humidity and everyday use, it’s probably overdue for an upgrade. This soft, absorbent one is an easy spring update that also just feels clean.

Why dry skin isn’t just a jerk in winter, but in the summer, spring and fall, too.

Percale Bed Sheets, $115, at silkandsnow.com.

A bed glow-up

Throughout the winter, a cozy and warm bed is usually a priority. But as the weather warms up, materials like flannel and fleece are too heavy and make you feel like early menopause has hit. For spring temperatures, opt for lightweight fabrics like cotton and linen. I personally love breaking out my linen sheets in the spring – they have that breezy, lived-in look that is just so cozy to me.

Disinfecting Multi-Surface Cleaner (Lemon Fresh), $12.95, at tru.earth.

A cleaner cleaner

Spring cleaning efforts are only as good as what you’re actually cleaning with. This multi-surface cleaner comes in dissolvable strips you mix with water to create your own spray, which cuts down on single-use plastic and keeps things simple. It’s made without parabens, phosphates, phthalates, or chlorine bleach, and uses plant-based ingredients that still get the job done without feeling overly harsh. Plus, it’s vegan, cruelty-free, and leaves a light lemon scent that just makes everything feel fresh.
