There’s no shortage of sparkle or sharp one-liners on The Real Housewives of London. Between glamorous soirées and the British high-society drama, Juliet Angus and Nessie Welschinger are two women who know how to keep things interesting.

Angus, the effortlessly chic American expat, has truly made London her stage. Welschinger, with her quick wit and warmth, brings heart (and a little heat) to every episode. In my conversation with the duo, the two opened up about the highs and lows of filming reality TV, the friendships behind the chaos, and how they each stay grounded when the cameras stop rolling. Of course, it wasn’t all serious – we wrapped things up with a cheeky round of This or That (from high tea to who’s more likely to start the drama) that proved these two are as entertaining off-screen as they are on it.

FLEETSTREET: What’s it like being on reality TV?

Juliet Angus: For me, it feels completely natural. I’ve honestly never found a job I’m better at than this; it’s like I’ve found my calling. I did another TV show about 10 years ago, and ever since, I’ve been manifesting a return to television. I wanted to show Americans what life in London is really like through a reality show that looks and feels cinematic, because that’s truly how it feels to live here. I’m in a movie every day.

It was never about fame for me. Of course, having a platform helps build your business, but what I really wanted was to show people how incredible life in London can be, and how much fun we have here.

Nessie Welschinger: London is such an incredible city, and being part of a show that celebrates that has been amazing. I’ve never done anything like this before. One of the biggest challenges for me was learning to let go of control. I run a very tight ship at home — with three children, my husband and my businesses — so allowing cameras into that world and being vulnerable on screen was definitely an adjustment. Finding that balance between family, work, and filming was one of the hardest but most rewarding parts of the experience.

FS: What’s going through your mind and body when emotions are high and the cameras are rolling?

JA: It can definitely get intense, but I’ve learned to leave it on set. I’m lucky to go home to my husband and children. I have a strong support system and a grounded family life. I don’t go home alone to dwell on what happened.

When the arguments happen like the ones you saw with Amanda Cronin, they were heated, but I didn’t hold onto them. I knew what was being said about me wasn’t true, so I didn’t let it affect me. If it were someone like Nessie saying those things, it would probably stay with me longer. She’s someone I respect and consider genuine. But in those moments, I remind myself what’s real and what isn’t, and that helps me let it go.

NW: Absolutely, those moments can be really emotional; it’s only natural. These are real friendships and real dynamics. So, when conflicts happen, it feels personal. We’re together constantly – filming, travelling, eating, waking up, going to sleep – it’s hard to separate the show from your real life.

I try to compartmentalize things, but it can still be overwhelming. Like Juliet said, we’re both lucky to have amazing support systems. When things felt heavy, or I was anxious, I leaned on my husband and my family. They helped me process everything and stay grounded, which is so important.

FS: Do you have any self-care rituals that help you stay grounded?

JA: I work out every day. I have to, for my sanity. Moving my body in the morning wakes up my mind and sets the tone for my day. That routine is really important to me. I also try to eat well. And, of course, drink plenty of champagne.

NW: I find therapy in the kitchen. Cooking grounds me. It gives me purpose, knowing I’m doing something meaningful for my family. I also play the piano when I need a creative outlet. Staying active – whether it’s cooking, walking or just keeping busy – helps keep both my mind and body in balance.

FS: Looking back at the season, is there a moment that still makes you laugh? Or one you’d rather forget about?

NW: I’m constantly laughing, especially when I watch the show. I was howling at the TV, honestly, because the way everything was edited was brilliant. The production team is phenomenal. Some of the moments – like dancing in Scotland or those chaotic dinner table scenes – still make me laugh whenever I think about them.”

JA: For me, it has to be when I had to pick up my dog’s poop in the middle of my jewelry launch. I remember thinking: “Really, guys?’ But that’s real life, and that’s what makes the show so relatable.

FS: What’s the secret to thriving in a city like London where everyone seems to come with a title, a powerful connection, or a hidden agenda?

NW: Well, you can buy your titles.

JA: I gave my dogs titles. But, honestly, 10 years ago, I cared about being in the right rooms with the right people. I don’t anymore, and I think that comes with age. If I’m in the room, I know it’s going to be fun. I am the party now. If it’s not entertaining, I’ll make it entertaining. Nessie and I can grab a bottle of champagne and have the best time anywhere.

NW: We really can. When we were on the boat back from the island in Scotland, Juliet put on music, and suddenly it turned into a disco in the middle of the sea. It was beautiful. She definitely brings the party.

FS: What’s one lesson that reality TV has taught you about yourself?

NW: I’ve learned that I’m a lot more patient than I ever realized.

JA: That I’m resilient and that I can handle just about anything.

Game time with RHOL

After the serious questions were out of the way, it was time to have a little fun. I wrapped up my chat with Juliet and Nessie with a round of This or That—a quick-rapid fire game that revealed just how in sync (and occasionally opposite) the two reality stars really are.

FS: High tea in London or deep-dish Chicago-style pizza?

NW: High tea in London.

JA: Deep dish? If you’d said thin crust, it would’ve been a yes. But, I do love a proper high tea in London.

FS: Champagne or tequila?

NW and JA: Champagne!

FS: Private members club or polo match?

JA: Private members club.

NW: Private members club. No cameras, no phones. If it’s not caught on camera, it didn’t happen.

FS: Who’s starts the drama? Who’s ends it?

NW: I think we’ve all got it in us to start drama. But I’d be the one to end it.

JA: What are you talking about, Ness? If there is a season two, I can’t wait to see the drama you bring. Then I’ll end it. How about that?

NW: My drama will all be in the kitchen.
