Fashion and sports have an interesting situationship. It’s not all overgrown mustaches in playoff season either. From Toronto Raptor Shai Gilgeous-Alexander’s tunnel walk looks to tennis star Bianca Andreescu’s on the Met Gala steps wearing Prabal Gurung, Canadian athletes know how to flex their fashion muscles. This is an arena that Lauren Kyle McDavid knows well. She’s a designer, founder and entrepreneur that recently launched a very chic, very hypebeast moto jacket and cap through her line Sports Club Atelier.
The label vibe is not far from the Taylor Swift fashion play at NFL games. The sports supporter gear is feminine, fashion-forward, a little-bit retro but at the same time fashion forward. You’ll find a variety of coveted pieces from a trendy oversized leather bomber clad with NHL patches to an Oiler acetate hair claw clip to a hockey stick purse charm. Oh, and she’s also married to Edmonton Oilers captain and centre Connor McDavid. So, she knows what’s stylish in the WAGs section.
But it’s a new partnership with electrolyte drink brand Liquid I.V. that has her tipping a new hat she designed, along with a moto jacket, launched for the Montreal Grand Prix. FLEETSTREET got the chance to chat with Kyle McDavid about the partnership and how sports and style can marry – and not clash.
The woman behind Toronto’s most immersive fashion week: Vanja Vasic.
FLEETSTREET: What do you feel is missing from women’s sportswear?
Lauren Kyle McDavid: The entire category was missing and underrepresented, which is exactly why we created Sports Club Atelier. I wanted to create something that you could wear to your favourite dinner spot and then head to the game.
For me personally, that would solve the constant need to change between different versions of yourself throughout the day. I love the idea of creating pieces that support the reality of modern women’s lives while still feeling refined and intentional.
What is the Cozy Girl aesthetic trend?

FS: Sports and style seem to have always interested you. How do you feel they balance each other? And how do you look for elevation in both areas of your life?
LKM: For me, sports and style have always felt connected because they’re both rooted in discipline, confidence and identity. There’s a certain energy that comes from sports culture: the rituals, the movement, the mentality and that naturally inspires the way people dress and express themselves. When we look to collaborate with other brands at Sports Club, we look for natural integrations, and that’s why this Liquid I.V. partnership felt so in sync, aligned, and exciting for us, as their products are truly about peak performance, and we want to create products that are elevated and different from our competitors.
I think people today want more than just performance or aesthetics independently; they want experiences and products that make them feel good while still fitting seamlessly into their lifestyle. That intersection is really inspiring to me creatively.
Yes!—25 one-shoulder sport bras, sorted by support.

FS: Tell me about the moto jacket.
LKM: Our stand-out and my favourite is definitely the jacket. Did you not see the perfectly measured pouch that fits Liquid I.V. sticks on the front of the jacket? Or the custom lining?!
I wanted it to feel nostalgic and timeless, almost like something you could have discovered in a vintage racing archive, but with a modern, elevated fit and finish. It has that balance of sport and fashion that I’m always drawn to.
Workout pants that don’t roll down – you’re so very welcome.
FS: What excites you now about fashion and sports?
LKM: What excites me most right now is seeing the continued evolution of sports culture into lifestyle and fashion spaces in a more intentional way. There’s such an incredible opportunity to create experiences, products, and communities that feel aspirational yet remain authentic.
With Sports Club Atelier, that’s always the goal: to create pieces and partnerships that feel meaningful, elevated, and genuinely connected to culture. I’m excited for what’s ahead, and we have so many exciting partnerships launching in 2026, so stay tuned.
